Fort Worth, Texas: Texas Civil War Museum (Closed)

U.S. Grant's cigar, displays of battle flags, weapons, uniforms, surgical implements. At 15,000 sq. ft., it was the largest Civil War display west of the Mississippi River. Closed permanently Oct. 31, 2024.

A few miles south of Lake Worth, west edge of Ft. Worth off I-820 exit 5B, on east service road/Jim Wright Fwy.

Texas Civil War Museum

Very fine collection of North and South artifacts, including a cigar stub smoked by US Grant and his blue field jacket worn at Appomattox. Lots of amputation saws and Jefferson Davis' medicine chest!
