The real chocolate factory tour is long gone, replaced by an automated ride, mega-gift store, and a pervasive, consumer-overload-experience of candied goodness.

Free tour was nice, great for kids! The store was as described -- overload. Only one free, small, fun-size piece of chocolate was disappointing for my 5 year old, so I gave him mine too.

This is part of Hershey's Chocolate World. In addition to the factory tour, there is a 4D movie experience, a chocolate tasting class, an entertaining guided trolley tour around Hershey, and a build-your-own custom chocolate bar session. The Factory tour is free -- all the other experiences have a fee, but if you purchase three of them you get free parking! Very easy to spend the whole day here.

At the end of the Chocolate World tour guests are given a sample of a Hershey brand chocolate. These samples often have peanuts. Ask for a non-peanut candy if you have an allergy. They usually will give you a plain Hershey bar instead.

Fantastic 3d movie and loads of free chocolate. Don't bring the kids unless you have tons of wipes.
