The town of Faribault has two restored Tilt-a-Whirl carnival cars on Central Avenue that are great photo ops. The one on the corner of 3rd and Central was featured on the American Restoration show. The other is in front of the State Bank of Faribault, on the corner of 5th and Central. They are both stored for the winter, so be sure to look for them during the warmer months.
[Laura McColley, 03/28/2019]A restored tilt-a-whirl car, which was featured in an August 2014 cable network restoration show, has been placed in historic downtown Faribault. Herbert Sellner invented the Tilt-A-Whirl in 1926, at his Faribault home. Sellner Manufacturing opened its factory in Faribault and the ride debuted that year at the Minnesota State Fair. Tilt-A-Whirl and other rides continued to be manufactured at the iconic Faribault facility until the company was sold in 2011.
