Edgerton, Kansas: Failed Marriage, Chopped Car (Gone)

Front half of a 1987 car sat beside a highway with a large sign: "Divorced: She Got 1/2." Town council did not find it funny, ordered its removal in early 2018. Oddly, the man who created it never divorced.

Directions:: Was at the east end of town, on the south side of US Hwy 56, just east of its intersection with E. 4th St., by the old Skelly gas station.

Half A Car

It is gone as of this month. The city voted to get rid of the car.

The city council said the car's removal was "citizen initiated," but dozens of townspeople showed up in protest. The car has been moved into the old garage near its long-time spot, with the hope that it can later find a permanent home at the local lake or in the local museum.

Car Cut in Half

For years the front half of an old Chevrolet Citation has been sitting at the east end of Edgerton on Highway 56. I don't know the entire story behind it, but from reading the "Divorced" sign on the car you can probably guess what happened.

Don't feel too bad for the car owner. Also attached to the Chevy is a bumper sticker: "My other girlfriend is a Hooters girl."
