Springer, Oklahoma: Magnetic Hill
Most of the traffic on this small, rural road will probably be people like you, testing its ability to make your car roll uphill. The mysterious "magnetic" force is said to be strong enough to crash a plane!
- Address:
- Pioneer Rd, Springer, OK
- Directions:
- I-35 exit 42. Drive west 1.5 miles on Hwy 53. Turn right (north) onto Pioneer/Pit Rd. Drive one mile. You'll reach the bottom of the hill when you see gravel washed onto the blacktop. Stop, put your car in neutral, and you'll be pulled backwards, uphill (Note: up ahead you'll see the road veer sharply to the right, but if you reach this turn you've gone too far). This is a lightly traveled road, but please use your emergency flashers and be alert for other vehicles.

It does work. However, if you drive a Prius, I'll tell you these cars don't want to move, but it kept the car still on the uphill, and then it slowly started to pull and worked.

You have to try it to believe it! We were so impressed we did it four times. My Yukon got up to 12 mph in neutral going backwards. The directions were very accurate. I took a picture to help.
