This is the iconic, long outdoor staircase used in the classic Laurel and Hardy short, "The Music Box." The steps are open to the public and easily climbed. They are marked with a plaque at the foot of the steps. Very fun to see, especially if you've read the Ray Bradbury story about the ghosts of Laurel and Hardy, set on those steps and the adjacent apartments.
