Old Coaly, Mascot Mule Skeleton

Before the Nittany Lion there was Old Coaly, a black mule who was the non-official mascot of Penn State University. Old Coaly's articulated skeleton is on public display in a glass case on the campus, so he is not forgotten.

[Truman Eyler, 03/26/2016]

Old Coaly died of old age in 1893. His bones were preserved, then mounted and displayed in a glass case in 2004.
