Griffin, Georgia: Doc Holliday's Other Grave
Famous Wild West character Doc Holliday was supposedly buried here anonymously by his influential dad. A new historical marker above the grave has ruined dad's plan.

- Oak Hill Cemetery. From US Hwy 19 BUS/S. Hill St., turn east at the stoplight onto E. Poplar St. Follow this straight into the cemetery. Just before Poplar St. dead-ends at 2nd St., turn right onto a little cemetery road. The twin graves (Burial plot 11) will be on the right, roughly midway between Poplar and the next cross-street south in the cemetery. Look for the historical marker standing above the graves.

So this is the mystery: where is Doc Holliday buried? History says that after passing away from tuberculosis in 1887, John Henry Holliday was buried in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Some of the family and evidence say differently: that Doc's dad, Major Henry Holliday, a man of means and influence, had Doc reburied in Griffin's Oak Hill Cemetery. Father and famous son were buried beside one another in unmarked graves to maintain anonymity.
