Peace Through Understanding Arches

I have been passing by these arches from my hometown in Lima to Columbus my entire life, and recently learned that they were from the 1964 New York World's Fair. They are right out in front of Duff Quarry. The owner salvaged them from a train that was stalled in Ohio after they were torn down in New York.

The "stalled train" tale may be true or it may be an urban legend, but who really knows how many things end up in Ohio off trains that slow down too much.

Duff Quarry has two of the World's Fair "Peace Through Understanding" Arches! They are in current use as company signs in front of the quarry and have been there since 1991.
