Many years ago I had visited Waterloo Village, which was a typical recreated canal town. When we went back recently, it was different and not the touristy attraction I remembered. The property is now a state park. A few buildings are open and staffed (the mill and the store) and a house tour is available which we did not go on. There is an interesting recreated Indian village at the end of the road through the town. With the exception of the Indian village and the mill, walking through the town is like you have found a village that was simply abandoned.
