Noah's Ark

We are almost positive that this was deliberately built in a way that it can't be seen from the road. Even the no-turnaround parking lot (with large $10 PAST THIS POINT signs) seems designed to thwart quick photo ops. Once you're in, foot traffic is briskly funneled toward waiting charter buses that ferry people back and forth to the Ark. Be forewarned, if you are just looking for a photo it will cost you at least $10 and the Ark is waaaaaay off in the distance.

Well, it is big! But I was expecting lots of cages full of mechanical animals, or at least some sort of animal statues representing those species typically depicted in books. However, apparently Noah only saved prehistoric animals. Who knew?

Helpful displays around the Ark explain that the creatures saved by Noah rapidly evolved -- if that's the correct word -- into the animals we know today.

Noah's Ark

The thing is huge! Noah's Ark is the largest plywood structure built anywhere on earth. Very interesting to go and see. There aren't a lot of common animals on this ark. Most are prehistoric and not-so-fun to look at. Just a quick note: do not eat in the restaurant. Really bad, overpriced food, and the place smells like mold. Overall, definitely worth it!

[Ben Perdue, 08/04/2016]

The ark was built mostly of fir and spruce from Utah, Washington, and Canada.

Awesome replica of Noah's Ark! The exhibits provide an overwhelming amount of knowledge on how the ark was constructed, the care of animals, and how everyday life during the flood could have been for Noah and the others.

There is also an animal park and zip line. The zip line will be ready in August and there are only a few animals at this time.
