My wife and I visited the Terrain Map, but in our opinion it is lacking general visual appeal. I found myself standing on what I suppose is the map's Rocky Mountains, and I could not identify any states other than a few along bodies of water (e.g. Florida, Texas, Michigan). I believe the running rows of bricks identify rivers, not state boundaries. I can see on Google Earth the outline of the USA and rivers, but, believe me, in person the map is very difficult to perceive, and I have a B.A. in Geography!
[E.W.Burdorff, 09/23/2018]A giant map of the United States is maintained in a grassy opening in the woods at Hager Park in Jenison. It's adjacent to a playground and you're encouraged to walk on it. The outer edges and major bodies of water are outlined in gravel, and each state's boundary is also marked. Mountain ranges are in the forms of berms. It's fun to take someone there who doesn't know what to look for, as it's not obvious from the ground.
