The Hermann River Memorial is in the shape of a steamboat and has a great view of the river where many of them once paddled. When you enter the memorial you see the actual wheel from the steamer John Heckmann. The memorial commemorates many of the people from the Hermann area who captained these ships. Hermann is also where the steamer "Big Hatchie" exploded in 1842, killing 35.
