Giant Ear of Corn Made of Milk Jugs

Giant ear of corn is sadly no longer there. Perhaps the milk jugs became brittle from the weather and deteriorated.

[Robert Ottlinger, 10/23/2022]

The milk jug ear of corn is on wheels, and the seed dealer who built it repaints it every year. When the cold weather hits he may bring it indoors for its annual makeover.

Giant ear of corn made from milk jugs painted yellow, on the main road into Westby.

[Jon, 06/03/2018]

The ear of corn is 16 feet long and uses about a thousand milk jugs. It was built in 2004 by Bob Erickson, a seed dealer, who parks it in his yard and repaints it every year. When he drives it in parades, Erickson tosses out bags of candy corn with his business cards.

Neat to drive by. We wondered what type of paint they used on the plastic.

[Karin, 08/16/2017]

Reminiscent of a classic exaggerated "giant corn" postcard (some which date back to over a century ago), it's fashioned from empty plastic gallon milk jugs painted yellow. Could be the same giant ear that appears in Darien, 180 miles away, for their Labor Day Corn Festival Parade. It is on wheels, after all.
