If you go on the tour when it's chilly outside, it's going to be COLD inside the cells. Bring a jacket.

Eastern State Penitentiary

As I visited in December, I took one of their "winter adventure" tours. Such a creepy/interesting place, made even more so by the frigid temperatures! Definitely worth a look for the architecture and beautifully decaying cell blocks.

There's a little exhibit near the gift shop about past prisoners (including a dog!) and the prison's "isolation" techniques on inmates.

Very chilling -- pun intended.
