Willcox, Arizona: President Garfield Fireplace
A rock pile memorial to President Garfield was built in the Arizona desert soon after his 1880 assassination. It was later cannibalized for its rocks, and the inscription stone became part of a ranch house fireplace.

- Chiricahua National Monument. From Willcox drive southeast on Hwy 186 for 32 miles. Turn left onto Hwy 181. Drive three miles to the Chiricahua National Monument entrance sign, then continue one more mile. You'll see a turnoff on the left that leads to a small parking lot. From there it's a quick walk to the historic Faraway Ranch homestead and its fireplace.
