If you stand in just the right spot, you can see a wall-painted 2-D Gene Kelly swinging from a real-world 3-D lamppost. Best visited in the rain.

S. 5th Ave., Ann Arbor, MI
Downtown. On the west side of S. 5th Ave. midway between E. William and E. Liberty Sts. The mural can only be seen facing north. Pull into the post office lot to park for a quick picture.

Singing in the Rain Illusion Mural

Artist David Zinn created a mural of the iconic scene in which Gene Kelly sings, dances, and swings from a lamppost in the rain. He created a fun illusion incorporating a real lamppost on the sidewalk. Gene Kelly's daughter, Kerry Kelly Noviak, is a longtime residence of Ann Arbor.
