Commissioned by movie star Dennis Hopper, La Salsa Man is a customized caricatured Mexican based on a California Muffler Man. Donated to Dodge City 2010, erected 2016, tmoved to new spot Nov. 2017, removed for repairs 2018, shorn of Mexican elements 2019.

Dennis Hopper's Muffler Man (La Salsa Man) has changed in appearance. They've removed the Hispanic items.

[Marybeth Mueller Gardner, 08/18/2018]We've spoken with the La Salsa Man authorities in Dodge City. They assured us that his top half is not missing, but out for repairs. He should be a whole Man again soon, but they couldn't provide a definite date.
Thought this was the coolest one. Sammy Salsa I think it's called -- a Muffler Man in Dodge City.
