Donald Trump grew up in Queens and was a teenager when he visited the 1964-65 New York World's Fair. When he erected his downsized Unisphere in 1996, he wanted it girdled with the words "TRUMP INTERNATIONAL." The city refused.

Steel Earth Globe at Columbus Circle
A large steel globe by artist Kim Brandell stands above the entrance/exit of the Columbus Circle subway entrance. It show's the earths continents suspended on steel rings representing latitude and longitude lines. It's an homage to the Unisphere in Queens. As you exit the Columbus Circle subway station it takes your breath away as you look up at it hovering above you!
