Directions:: Hanson's Bar. From ND-36 -- either nine miles east of its intersection with ND-3, or 42 miles west of its intersection with US-52 -- turn north onto Main St. The bar will be on the right, just past the stop sign, at the corner of Main St. and 1st Ave.

New Geographic Center of North America

The bar and the story continue to live large in the tiny town of Robinson. I was fortunate to share a beer with the gracious bar owner, Bill Bender, and former town Mayor, as he told the truly wonderful story of how he challenged Rugby, North Dakota for the designation of Geographic Center of North America.

FYI - the bar is only open on Friday and Saturday, starting at 5 pm.

Hanson's Bar (with the Geographic Center of North America seal in the floor) is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 3 pm-1 am. Get the kids a pizza, buy a t-shirt. I'm from here. If you like farm country, take a drive.
