Macon, Georgia: Allman Brothers Caged Party Graves

The side-by-side graves of Allman Brothers band members Berry Oakley and Duane Allman have been locked behind a tall fence to prevent rock 'n' roll fans from doing stuff to (and on) them.

Allman Brothers Caged Party Graves

There's now a sign on the door of the cemetery office giving directions to the Allman Brothers graves. There is currently no headstone for Greg, but his grave was surrounded by a small roped-off area with a lot of memorabilia that had been left by fans.

Brother Gregg Allman is now buried to the left of the fenced-in area. It is a beautiful place to visit.

One tiny section of the fan offerings at the grave includes personal notes of gratitude, a dozen guitar picks, an Allman Brothers CD, an American flag, a drum stick, and an Almond Joy candy bar.

Beautiful 1840 cemetery. Found Allman gravestones fairly easy.

As you pass the gates of Rose Hill Cemetery, make a right and then veer to the left, pass the Eglantine Square sign, and follow to the bottom of the hill. We parked at the train tracks and walked through the ravine just beyond the large oak tree.

The Allman Brothers burial site is at the right side of the cemetery, near back railroad tracks. When tracks are on your right, look left for brick stairs and iron fencing. The office was closed when we came.
