The largest steel observation tower in Massachusetts. Sells itself with the odd phrase, "A lot more than you remember!" Originally named "Longue Vue" when it opened in 1923. It was fenced off in early 2012.

We drove to Longview Tower in hopes to climb and see the 3 states. And... It's CLOSED. so sad. The tower looks really rusted, and although all of the signage is still intact, there is a fence completely circling the property. There is however a sign saying that something is "coming soon." Disappointed... :(
[Dylan, 03/22/2012]Driving the Mohawk Trail (Route 2 in MA) is a lot like driving old NY 17 or the like, the old "vacation roads" with motor courts, etc. The Trail seems to boast a ridiculous array of "Indian buildings," rest complexes painted "native style" with often a tepee or something. Hideous things, but a cottage industry. One even boasts "Largest Indian Gift Shop on the Mohawk Trail," despite the lack of any ostensible size difference.
[Pete, 03/07/2000]Hey! Out in Western Massachusetts is a highway featuring a hairpin turn that was built right on top of an old indian trail. It's called the Mohawk Trail. There are teepees you can eat in, and competing towers in which you can see "5 States, including Canada" It's open year round, but the best time to visit and hit all the cheesy gift shops is during the early summer. And you better chew gum -- your ears will pop!
