Woodford, Virginia: Stonewall Jackson Died Here

A shrine to a Confederate commander. Stonewall died in this little white building on May 10, 1863, after one of his own sentries misidentified the approaching rider and shot him in the arm. Monument outside house reads, "Stonewall Jackson Died."

Stonewall Jackson Shrine. I-95 exit 118. Turn east onto Hwy 606/Mudd Tavern Rd. Drive 4.5 miles. Cross the train tracks, then make an immediate left at the brown sign for the Shrine.

Daily 9-5. Grounds gated after hours. (Call to verify) Local health policies may affect hours and access.

Stonewall Jackson's Memorial

Located on Stonewall Jackson Rd (SR 606) approximately three miles west of Hwy 2. It resides right next to the railroad. This is where he died. There is a small museum with occasional tours.
