The Iron Man: Ancient Billboard is still standing, watching over traffic in Hartselle. What a wonderful piece of Old School advertisement. It's over 100 years old!

Iron Man is a roadside billboard, over a hundred years old, made of iron. He's shaped like a man with outstretched arms, similar to a scarecrow, which probably made him and his brethren acceptable to farmers with roadside fields. He advertises Vegacal Liver Tonic, one of several patent medicines whose high alcohol content made them popular in dry counties in the South.
Iron Man has been so beloved over the years that he now stands on the corner of Iron Man Road, in front of Iron Man Grocery. His feet are encased in a large block of cement to make sure he stays put.
