Manis Mastodon

Location of Mastodon discovery.

[Jessica Erskine, 03/17/2017]

The mastodon was accidentally unearthed in 1977 by homesteader Emanuel Manis as he was digging a trench with a backhoe. The animal had apparently collapsed on the spot and died of old age, but also showed evidence of being scavenged by early humans.
