Carnton Plantation was home to the person who wrote, "The Widow of the South." It was used as a hospital in the Civil War, and you can still see blood stains on the floor where they did the surgery. Next to the house is the second largest Confederate Cemetery in the USA. The Widow of the South [Carrie McGavock] arranged the cemetery by state, so the dead soldiers could be buried with others from where they came.
