Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan: Tour a Great Lakes Freighter

SS Valley Camp is over 100 years old and still floats. Inside is an exhibit about Great Lakes shipwrecks, including two lifeboats from the doomed Edmund Fitzgerald. Big and impressive-looking even for landlubbers who don't go on board.

Tour a Great Lakes Freighter

It was cool to see what made up a freighter. It's a museum, so there are tons of things to see and read. My 10 and 12 year old boys went and they enjoyed it as well.

The ship is huge! There is also a nice view of the St Marys River, and from the same parking lot you can take boat cruises through the Soo Locks.
