When I was a kid in the seventies, the Malibu Salsa Man did, in fact, hold a burger (the bottom half of the bun is now his tray). He was the Malibu Frosty Freeze Man and was all in white before the addition of the sombrero, serape, and mustache.

A "Salsa" Muffler Man stands at the fringe of the Pacific Ocean. He's been there at least 20 years. [kristie, 7/9/97]
His right hand has been modified to better support a large platter of spicy foods. The proprietor said the place was a burger joint before La Salsa bought it out and he used to wield an enormous burger. In fact, that platter he's holding looks suspiciously like the bottom half of a bun!
