The second "secret" Paul Bunyan reported missing from the trailer behind the building was moved to a new home with new owners in October 2019 (not sure where) so he could be restored and properly appreciated. There was no proper place here to put him for people to enjoy. He was "replaced," as part of a trade, with a variety of cast iron sculptures that line the walkway to the building: two dinosaurs, one elephant, and one giant tortoise. Kids love to take pictures on them!
Paul Bunyan by the roadside is still there and won't be going anywhere, and we continue to keep him in great condition. His flag has been reported missing in the past, but he still holds his flag most days of the year. It comes down in severe weather (such as ice storms).

As of New Years Day 2019, Cheshire's Paul Bunyan stands proud and in excellent condition. He's in front of an indoor trampoline park as well as the House of Doors now, so the "House of Doors" sign has disappeared from his base. He's holding his classic American flag. Although rumor had it that another Paul Bunyan was lying behind the building, we checked and none was present.
[Katie, 01/07/2019]When last reported in July, Bunyan 2 was laying on a trailer in a back storage area.
As of 6/9/2012 this Muffler Man is standing tall and looks in great condition! He looks freshly painted and had his American flag in hand.

Paul Bunyan was displaying holiday spirit when I paid my hometown muffler man a visit over the holidays. A wreath was hanging from his usual flagpole that he carries (he is designated as a flagpole to circumvent Cheshire's height ordinance). I learned he had a paint job recently. This one is always in excellent condition!
