The Black Mailbox

There's not much to see. It's a black mailbox, but after reading about it thought it would be a little more exciting. Appears another box may have either been removed or stolen. It was on our way to Area 51 restricted area, so we stopped.

Mailbox for Space Aliens

Located on the Extraterrestrial Highway, between the Little A'Le'Inn and Alien Research Center, there is a turnout with what appears to be a transient campsite. A closer look reveals a black mailbox stuffed with letters from passersby addressed to the aliens. The letters are in multiple languages, and range in tone and topic. Some people leave photos.

This is the famous "Black Mailbox," a must-stop among UFO- and sci-fi-loving travelers. Although knocked from its cement pedestal years ago, the mailbox still gets plenty of mail.
