Trying to connect with a Proxima Centauri pen pal? Drop a letter in this battered black mailbox at one of the most remote spots on the Extraterrestrial Highway.

- On the south side of the Extraterrestrial Hwy, at its intersection with the unmarked, dirt, Mail Box Rd. Either 19 miles west of the Alien Research Center in Crystal Springs, or 20 miles east of the Little A'Le'Inn in Rachel. Look for the pile of debris that resembles a transient campsite.

There's not much to see. It's a black mailbox, but after reading about it thought it would be a little more exciting. Appears another box may have either been removed or stolen. It was on our way to Area 51 restricted area, so we stopped.

Located on the Extraterrestrial Highway, between the Little A'Le'Inn and Alien Research Center, there is a turnout with what appears to be a transient campsite. A closer look reveals a black mailbox stuffed with letters from passersby addressed to the aliens. The letters are in multiple languages, and range in tone and topic. Some people leave photos.
