Healy, Alaska: Into The Wild Movie Death Bus
The movie replica of the bus where Chris McCandless lived (and died) sits in front of a bar. Inside the bus are photos and a storyline of McCandless's attempt to reconnect with nature. The original derelict bus was moved off its wilderness trail location in June 2020 because visitors kept dying. It will eventually be an outdoor display at the Museum of the North in Fairbanks.

Chris McCandless abandoned modern society to live off the land, although he had no land and almost no survival skills. He found an abandoned bus as he trekked through the Alaskan wilderness. Nature killed him in a little over 100 days. The actual death bus -- Fairbanks City Transit Bus No. 142 -- is still out on the Stampede Trail. Fans sleep in it, and one died in 2017 while crossing the Teklanika River.
