The museum is open Friday-Sunday 11 to 4. Make sure to take a pic on the porch, and sit at Ponyboy's desk! There are several other Outsiders filming locations in the neighborhood and nearby.

The museum is complete and open for business. Admission $10. Includes a tour of the house, no reservation needed. Street parking available plus an on-property parking lot accessible through a back alley.
Staff was very knowledgeable and have a TV with the movie to point out how certain scenes were captured. Lots of memorabilia and photos. The back of the house has a second building housing a gift shop and more memorabilia.
The added bonus is an extra from the film who lives in the neighborhood had a 35mm camera and had several candid behind-the-scenes pictures of this young cast.
Be sure to have someone take your photo sitting on the sofa with a tray with the cake and a beer bottle to share with your friends.

Directions to The Outsiders Movie House are spot on. Like a previous tip states, it may be in the process of becoming a museum, but not yet. There were workers at the house today. Also, I found out the Admiral Drive-In was used in the film and we found it, along historic Route 66.

This is fun to look at, but if you go when the museum is not open, there's not a ton to look at. Then again, I've not seen the movie. Tours are available by appointment only.

This house was used as the home of the Curtis boys [played by C. Thomas Howell, Patrick Swayze, and Rob Lowe]. It is being restored to its original condition. It is not open to the public as of yet, but slated to open the summer of 2018.
[Lanette Giese, 01/09/2018]Rapper Danny Boy O'Connor, a big fan of the 1983 movie, bought the house in 2016. He has reportedly studied the film frame-by-frame so that he can make an exact restoration of the house interior, which he plans to fill with his collection of Outsiders memorabilia.

Francis Ford Coppolla's film of S.E. Hinton's book "The Outsiders" was more of a stylish curiosity when first released in 1983, but gained cult fans over time as a film starring a generation of boy actors. We'd have to watch again to see if the house is important (think Twister House, or Home Alone House) and to stop mixing it up with Hinton's and Coppola's "Rumble Fish" -- released the same year.
