The venerable tree, toppled by a storm, has been growing sideways ever since. A plaque at its gnarled base declares that it is "dedicated to all survivors."

Directions:
I-10 exit 100. Drive south on Ambassador Caffery Pkwy for a half-mile. Turn left (no stoplight) onto Saul Drive. Drive until the street ends at a stop sign. You'll see the Oak ahead, on the right.

It really is a magnificent tree to see.

The stone marker reads: "Survivor Oak - Dedicated to all survivors who through their struggles have found new life. Registed in memory of Saul Sonnier and the Zepherin Broussard Farm. May 24, 2007 - Registration Number 5631"

A very neat looking tree that is over 150 years old. You are able to climb on it and take pictures.
