Giant Bat House

Located inside a privately owned campground and music park, the Giant Bat House is home to hundreds of thousands of bats that usually depart each night at sunset, but they are very temperature-sensitive and may stay "home" on exceptionally cold or hot evenings. Most bat-watchers arrive about 30 minutes before sunset with a plan to throw Frisbees or some other exercise for kids. Once the bats begin to depart, the event lasts 10 to 15 minutes. On warmer nights the bats tend to depart when it's later (and darker), and can be difficult to see.
