USS Indianapolis: Sunk A-Bomb Ship Memorial

One of my favorite spots in the city. This is an incredible memorial/monument to an important event in American history.

[Jason Scott, 04/06/2018]

The heavy cruiser and city namesake was built in 1930, fought in World War II, was damaged in Japanese attacks, secretly delivered the atomic bomb, and was torpedoed in the Pacific while returning home. In 2017 the shipwreck was found -- 3 1/2 miles down in the Philippine Sea.
