Park City, Kentucky: Ruins of Bell's Tavern
Important early tourism hub to Mammoth Cave and Diamond Caverns. The original wooden Bell's Tavern burned in 1859, and the more ambitious stone-walled version was never completed. Has its own parking lot.

- 130-318 Old Dixie Hwy, Park City, KY
- Directions:
- I-65 exit 48. Turn east onto Mammoth Cave Pkwy. Drive a half-mile. Turn right at the stop sign onto Louisville Rd., then make the first left onto W. Dixie St. Drive across the bridge over the train tracks, then make the first left onto Old Dixie Hwy. Drive a quarter-mile. You'll see the ruins and its parking lot on the right.

Extremely impressive structure for 1830. Well worth the side trip if you're a history nerd! Added bonus: there are now two sinkholes that have opened up in the Bells Tavern Park!

Ruins of an old tavern that was a really happening place until its total destruction by fire in the 1850s. The American Civil War thwarted rebuilding attempts. Currently it sits abandoned in a park.
