Wooden gavel.

World's Largest Gavel

Now certified by the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest gavel because it is made of wood, the same material as its actual normal-sized counterpart. Those are the rules!

Abraham Lincoln defended a case here in the summer of 1850. The plaque has a quote from Lincoln and says the gavel is dedicated to the judges of Clark County. Interesting because as far as we know, Abraham Lincoln was never a judge.

The day we visited the gavel's base and top edge were incredibly dirty. Just screaming out for a dust cloth and the world's largest can of Lemon Pledge!

Keep an eye out for fiberglass lions here and there around town; they're decorated to represent area sports teams and businesses. There's one on the courthouse lawn.
