Pikeville, Kentucky: Pikeville Cut Overlook
A sweeping panorama of what humans can do with dynamite and steam shovels. At the time of its completion, the Pikeville Cut was the second most earth moved by humans, only surpassed by the Panama Canal.

- Directions:
- US Hwy 23 exit 24. Turn west (away from Pikeville) onto Cedar Creek Rd, cross the river, then immediately turn left onto Bob Amos Drive. Follow it 1.5 miles, up the hill, until it ends at the overlook.

- Gate closes at dusk. Local health policies may affect hours and access.

There is a nice observation deck you can look through. Prepare to drive up the side of the mountain.

At the time of its opening, this engineering feat was the second most earth moved by humans, only surpassed by the Panama Canal. At the overlook you can get an amazing view of this marvel and the City of Pikeville.
