The Mickey Pot.

The Big Coffee Pot

We stopped by the Coffee Pot this morning. It's off 52, in a neighborhood. It is surrounded by a beautiful flower bed. Sadly it does not have a sign to tell its story. The sign nearby speaks of the crossroads.

We love finding Roadside Coffee Pots, number 3 for us.

Old Salem

Old Salem is a brick village from the 1700s. There's a Boys' and Girls' building, where everybody had to live and go to school separately, and a tavern for lunch/supper lit by candles only. All the streets are made of bricks; many of the village's houses have painted-on bricks, like fake wall art.

Old Salem is best known to Roadsiders as the home of the Big Coffee Pot.

The Big Coffee Pot

I grew up in W-S, and went to Old Salem on class trips multiple times. My favorite story about the pot is that a revolutionary soldier hid from the British in this pot. As I tried to look it up, it may have been Civil War and may just be rumor.

Mickey Coffee Pot.

The Mickey Coffee Pot

The Mickey Coffee Pot was built in 1858 by two men (last name Mickey) as an advertisement for their tin shop. It has been relocated several times in Winston Salem to accommodate road construction and reduce the number of vehicles crashing into it.
