The Big Coffee Pot
Smaller than I expected but worth seeing if you're stopping to visit Old Salem or the old Shell-shaped gas station. Well maintained, with fresh flowers.

A night view of the historic Mickey Coffee Pot in Old Salem.
If you continue up Liberty/Old Salem/S Main (one way streets that are all convergent and the same), into Salem College area, there is an olde tyme crafts-show. Not sure of the hours or admission price, but it's attached to the corral.
[VCOM, 03/12/2008]The Big Coffee Pot
Apparently the early settlers had a taste for kitsch, too. In the middle of historic Old Salem, NC, there is what is known as "The Big Coffee Pot." It is, well, a big coffee pot. It was originally hung in front of a tinsmith's shop. Now it looms above the minor traffic in the middle of a square. It's big enough for three humans to pose underneath it comfortably. It made the otherwise okay trip worthwhile for me. Hey, you take fun where you can find it in North Carolina.
