Along Route 201 in Moscow, Maine is the Million Dollar Birdhouse Wall. It is called the Million Dollar Birdhouse Wall because it is said that it cost the State of Maine over $1 million dollars to build this retaining wall along the roadway that abuts the Kennebec River.
To date, hundreds of birdhouses have been mounted by travelers from far and wide onto the wooden wall.

The retaining wall is a third of a mile long and is decorated with a variety of birdhouses that have appeared seemingly out of thin air. No one seems to know who has put them up or when the first one was hung up. Be careful when stopping to look as there is really no good spot to pull off of the road, and the road can be busy.
