As of September 22, 2024, there's no Bird Millman, just the pole she stood on.
[Lee Cagle, 09/22/2024]
A fun life size sculpture about 20 feet above the ground on a pole. Bird Millman O'Day (1890-1940) appears to be walking across an imaginary tightrope strung across Royal Gorge Boulevard. She was one of the most celebrated high-wire performers of all time. During the Golden Age of the American Circus, she was a premiere attraction with Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey. The artist is Robert Henderson, who is also responsible for the plane sculptures made from car bumpers that are in several locations around Canon City.
