Scobey, Montana: Pioneer Town and Daniels County Museum

This is not free to wander around by yourself; it is private property, with guided tours except during Pioneer Days.

Buildings and artifacts from all over the area assembled into a 35-acre museum in this very rural town. There's an old general store, movie theater, law office, doctor's office, dress shop, cars, churches, pioneer chuck wagons, and homes of both average and wealthy people -- about 40 old buildings assembled into a turn-of-the-20th-century town. The only way I knew of this place was from a highway sign on US 2 about an hour's drive south. I could not find much online about it, but I've learned that often the best things to see are found by following highway signs. I spent three hours there with the tour guide, who was phenomenal.
