Chinatown Friendship Gate

A large pagoda-style archway welcomes visitors to Chinatown in Philadelphia. If you are looking at your phone, driving, or watching for traffic as you cross the street, you might miss this. It is an impressive, massive structure, but it is high above you.

[Dave Hollenbeck, 07/16/2018]

The 42-foot-high gate was built in 1984 by local artist Sabrina Soong, and restored in 2008. Its Chinese characters read, "Philadelphia Chinatown."
