- From West Kingston drive east on RI-138 for about a mile. At the stoplight turn left onto RI-2. Drive south for 1.5 miles. Turn left onto Great Swamp Monument Rd. Drive until the road ends at a gate, then follow the road on foot to the monument. It's less than a mile.

Officially titled a "Battle" Monument, but it was a massacre -- of Indians. The monument is 20 feet tall, and hidden in the woods.

We visited this monument today, at the end of a little more than a half-mile hike on a clean trail. The monument and area were well-maintained. There were several mementos left at the base of the monument -- even a tomahawk!
