The 17 realistic murals scattered throughout this city are excellent examples of the Trompe-l'oeil style of painting. An official map and guide, available online or provided in person at the town visitors' center, offers fun insights about the optical illusions within each work. Most are still in great condition. It's fun to stand in awe of the realistic images!

This is the first mural circuit in Canada. The downtown streets of Sherbrooke have 17 murals along two circuits (The half-circuit includes ten murals). You pass microbreweries, restaurants, shops, museums, the Magog River gorge with waterfalls, dam, an old power plant. Stop 1 is at the local Information Office. Parking is available and you can pick up the brochure which gives you all the information you need. Each mural depicts historical periods and has images (bugs, animals, elves, etc.) that are fun to search for. This is a year-round activity.
