You can easily spend hours listening to the stories of these pioneers and exploring the cabins and artifacts. Very clean. Nice restrooms and picnic area. Nice and knowledgeable volunteers, too.

Bluff Pioneer Fort

Great place to stop for lunch, which we brought -- had shaded picnic tables. And clean bathrooms! Interesting exhibits to explore. Far exceeded our expectations.

Bluff Pioneer Fort

Visiting the Bluff Fort, with its cabins and sandstone buildings, is a return to early frontier life in the Four Corners of the southwest. Water wheel, wagons, films, artifacts, and history of the area are all shown and told in five different languages. Ute, Navajo, and Anglo culture all play a part in the Hole in the Rock story of this outpost of civilization. There are pioneer costumes for photo ops, hand carts to pull, and a craft center to learn about rag rug making, quilting etc. The Fort includes a very nice visitors center and gift shop, as well as modern restroom facilities.

A good collection of pioneer-era buildings (and some ruins) right on the main highway through town. We wish that all Wild West attractions were this convenient.
