Cleveland Grays Armory Museum
The oldest independent armory in the United States, built in 1893. Since 1837 the Cleveland Grays Militia has been answering the call to service. The Grays are no longer a militia but a support group of the museum; they preserves history, the building, support the armed services ,and host educational programs for the public. The building itself is worth a visit but the artifacts are also amazing. The first canon every captured by the North, a WWI German helmet with the mailing label and postage still attached from the battlefield, a top secret invasion map of the beaches of Normandy -- just a few of the rare artifacts that call the Armory Home.
