- I-495 exit 32. Follow sign to Westford. Follow the road to its end at the park in the center of town Turn left onto Main St. Very shortly take a right onto Graniteville Rd. Drive a quarter-mile. You'll pass a large brown house on the right, then come to a small white house. The marker is just beyond the house, on the right, next to its garage.

During Edgar Allan Poe's last years he dated three women, a Victorian version of a menage a troi. Sarah Whitman said no to a marriage proposal after he was caught drinking. Sarah Shelton was making wedding preparations when he died. Nancy Richmond was married and lived in the white house next to this marker. Poe came for an extended stay. They fell in love. He wrote love letters to her, calling her Annie. His poem, "Annie", was written for her. After Nancy's husband died she legally changed her name to Annie. This marker commemorates Poe's lengthy visit.
