Moxie Museum

My friend and I visited the Moxie Museum in October 2006. Yes, it's a very small place, you might just drive by if you didn't know it was there. It's a corner building.

Frank the Moxie Man is quite a character, a lovely person. He can tell you the whole story, word for word, of how Moxie was invented. Lots of T-shirts and other Moxie stuff, but not much else.

Just talk to him. He loves talking about Moxie, and books, especially science fiction.

Moxie Museum

I found the Moxie Museum, it is in a great old general store named Kennebec's. The display is in the back but they are planning to expand the museum onto the second floor of the building. Frank, the man behind the counter, was extremely nice -- and he knows everything there is to know about Moxie. We got two shirts, a key chain, and a bumper sticker.

Moxie Museum

Everybody in town knew where it was but for some reason they all described different locations. The town librarian came through with the best directions. I spent more time parking than in the building.

More Moxie: I grew up on it in Lowell, MA. Mom had us drink it to prevent colds, diarrhea, and assorted other ailments. It's an acquired taste. I have been back to the area a few times within the last 10 yrs and still manage to find a two liter bottle and drink up. Nostalgic and blissfully happy...

Moxie Museum

I was just at the Moxie Museum last May. It exists in one corner of a hard-to-find, unpainted general store. Nifty gifts, though. I bought a "Frisbee" and a key fob. Good luck buying a bottle or can of the not-so-tasty beverage .... they were selling only cases and no other vendor in town sold it.

Annual Moxie Festival

Last weekend (July 12) was the Lisbon Falls Annual Moxie Festival. Not only was the Moxie Headquarters packed with Moxie lovers, the main street was filled with locals donning Moxie T-shirts, and a local band played songs about burping (I can only assume that this is related to Lisbon Falls' favorite carbonated drink). It was sort of lame as festivals go, but literally the most exciting place in Maine last week (I overheard a local note: "This is the Mardi Gras of Lisbon Falls") Party on.
